Last Few Weeks Here!

I don't want to think that my time down here in Disney will be coming to the end soon.

I have been working non-stop and have been only receiving one day off these last few weeks. Today, was my day off this week. I went to blizzard beach with my amazing coworkers. It was a lot of fun and good way to spend my day off. Blizzard Beach for all of you who don't know anything about it, is a water park.

My graduation for my program is coming. Its on April 29 and when I graduate I receive at mickey hat with tassels and much more. I am very excited and will feel very accomplished when this happens.

I really want to come back to Disney and do the alumni program. All college program students can take part in this alumni program. The alumni program is for students who graduated and completed the college program. I want to apply for this during the summer of my senior year. I almost considered extending my program until August or longer but I knew I had to get back to finish school and catch up on everything.

This week the Boardwalk is very slow. We don't have many guests coming into any of the shops. I hate it when this happens because it makes my nights and days boring. I like to keep myself busy and being slow surprised me because just last week we were slammed with lots of guests. The ice cream shop (Seashore Sweets) had a line out the door for almost two hours. In the beginning I found it to be stressful when we were busy and had lines but now I feel excited. I realized that the guests are used to waiting in lines because they are in Disney World. The night that the line was out the door for at least two hours I was working. We had to make icecream runs many times and had the manager getting items for us. All of us managed to work as a team and get through the night with no problem.

The other day I had made a magical moment for a guest. It was the guests daughters sweet sixteen when she went home the next day. She asked me if we sold any birthday merchandise. I knew we had some but nothing a sixteen year old teenager girl would like. So I told the guest that I could give her a birthday pin for her daughter. I had her write down her daughters name on a piece of paper then went I into the back stage, got a pin and then wrote her daughters name on it in pretty decorative letters. The guest was very happy and appreciated it very much. As I was doing this my manager noticed and said good job on making a magicial moment. I was happy that he noticed.

One last thing, I had lost my name tag for at least two weeks. For awhile, I was Nancy from Florida and Melissa from Davis, Ohio. I hated not having my name tag because I always had guests telling me I from here and where exactly is Davis, Ohio. Sometimes I would just tell the guest I lost my name tag and that I was not familiar with the area. I have my original name tag back for this week. I'm so very happy! I actually had the people change it a little. I had them write on it that I went to Fisher College, MA.

Well thats it for now. Hopefully you all enjoy reading this blog and I will blog again soon!

Being Deployed

I very lucky because I have not been deployed yet. But four coworkers of mine have been deployed to other resorts. Being deployed means getting sent to another resort to work in a merchandise shop for a week or more and then being sent back to your original location. My Australian coworkers were deployed to the Contemporary Resort for a week. Now two more are deployed there. Usually, college program people are deployed to these places because they are short staffed. It is really wierd how they choose the cp's to be deployed. Honestly, I dont understand it and dont want it to happen to me.
I really sorry for not blogging a lot lately. I'm not really sure where to begin. Well I've been down here in Florida for about three months now.

A lot has happened over these short three months. I absolutely love the Boardwalk and all my coworkers. I feel like I hang out with my coworkers the most. There are is a pretty big group of college programs also known as CP's at the Boardwalk. For the most part all of us are really close. We always hang out outside of work and usually have the same days off. So on most of my days off I'm always doing something with the my coworkers. Ive gotten close to so many of the girls at work. Id have to say that one of them is my best friend down here.

I know all the in's and out of the tunnels in Disney. Magic Kingdom has the biggest underground tunnel. An interesting fact that no one knows about unless you are a cast member is that Peterpan and Prince Charming were caught making out in the tunnels. Now that is scandellas and we cant let our children guests now about because the magic will be ruined.

Im sure of you are interested in how the apartments are like and how it is to live the six girls. Well Patterson Court is the most upscale apartment complex which I love about it however all the girls I live with do not get along. I think I have gone through the most drama that could last me a lifetime. Lets just say that we started with 6 girls and now there is 4 girls.

My x'roommate Olivia moved out to Vista Way because she didnt get along with the girls here and her good friends lived there and paid the 50 dollars that is required when you move apartments for her birthday. Which means right now I have the room to myself which is super nice. But soon I will have a new roommate because my coworker Jessie and I put in a housing request for her to move in.

There have been issues between two of my suitmates for keeping one of them up a night. I was talking to one today and she will be spending the next few days at her friends house and going to complain to housing about the noise. I have a feeling she will move out very soon. I know this seems bad with all these issues and roommates moving but I guess it is just that way it is and it makes my life better.

Unfortunatly, I am going to be leaving Florida early because I have to get back to school for my summer classes. I know it will be the hardest thing to leave and say goodbye. I am leaving May 5th and my original departure date was May 14th. Just writing this makes me sad because I love it here plus it may mean I will miss the formal dance at the Grand Floridan Resort. I also may miss the opportunity of going on a Disney Cruise with my girls from work. The cruise would go to the Bahamas and depart from Orlando. It would only costs 250 dollars per person with out Disney discount.

It has also came around the time to decide if you want to extend your program and I feel like I do but I know I cant because I have school to take care of. A lot of my coworkers have already extend until December which means they will be here for a year. There are four coworkers of mine that have decided to leave Florida early.

Updates!

Sorry my blogs have not been consistent recently, its just Disney has me on a very busy schedule. I promise I will try to blog more. Well I am finally getting the hang of my job and absolutely love working at the Boardwalk Resort. I work with amazing people and have gotten to be close friends soo many people at work. I love the enviroment.

Everyday, I look forward to going into work. Now, that I have been here for over a month I feel more comfortable with my role. Each time I go into work I'm eager to see with store I am working in and what people I am working with. The best part to me is working with a good crew. Everyday, I meet new guests and recently Ive been seeing some of the same guests. I wear my name tag at work which shows the guest where I am from and what college I attend. This makes great conversation starters. I usually get asked where is Fisher College? Is it in Boston? I love answering that question with a yes. The other day while I was working in my favorite shop ESPN I met a guest and his family who was practically from my hometown. He lives two towns away from me and I got so excited when we discovered this. The guests also new college students who go to school in Boston.

I have been having some roommate issues at home. In the first month we all encountered a lot of drama and issues. I am living with six girls. Believe me its not an easy task. Currently, I get along with all but one roommate. But that one roommate is the one I share a room with which makes it ten times harder. So its sad to say this but I am moving out. Im still going to live in Patterson Court but with a friend of mine. Hopefully in a 2 or 3 bedroom. Im sooo stoked on this because I know it will let me enjoy this more! My friend from work and I are planning on living together.

I have discovered a lot of amazing places to visit in Orlando. A great place to go with friends is the House of Blues. I have gone here twice with some of my best co-workers. It is a lot of fun. Its located in Downtown Disney and you have to be 19 years or older. Check it out!

Well I better go for now because tomorrow I have a really early shift starting at 7:15 am. If there is anything anyone would like to know about being a CP let me know and I can try to answer it from experience.

Parks

I have been down here officially for one month. I have gone to every single park more than once. The four parks are Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom. My favorite park is Animal Kingdom because I love the ride Expedition Everest. Its a roller-coaster. Studios has two great rides and lots of nice shops. The two great rides are rocken-roller coasters with Aero-Smith and tower of terror. I have gone one both many times now. Usually, I go to the parks on my days off. Magic Kingdom is known for Cinderella's castle and main street. Epcot is amazing because of all the different countries located there. As you can tell I have managed to do a lot of exploring.

Boardwalk Resort

This has been a crazy week at the boardwalk. I have worked many different shifts including opening, afternoons, and closing. Today, I worked in the ESPN shop from 11 to 6 pm. I opened the shop which is really easy to do. I usually close Sea Shore Sweets or On the Boardwalk shops. Those hours are 6 pm to 12 pm. Im getting used to all these different hours and long shifts.

I feel like I have gotten accustomed to work. Sometimes before work I will go to Epcot or Hollywood Studios because they both are located walking distance from the Boardwalk Resort. If anyone goes to Epcot, I recommend to go eat in Mexico.

Having the Time of My Life

I had the longest journey of my life trying to get to Orlando, Florida. I flew down on January 5 with my mother. We departed from Boston, Massachusetts and had a stopover in Philadelphia then finally arrived in Orlando that evening.

My first night in Florida was magical because I saw palm trees and felt the warm weather. The next few days were filled with events including traditions class, housing meetings, finding out my apartment, roommates, and my job. I learned a lot from my traditions class and for a field trip we all went to Magic Kingdom to see the underground tunnels beneath Cinderellas Castle.

I live in Patterson Court with 6 roommates. We all get along really well and have a great time together. We come from all different states including: California, Wisconsin, Chicago, Texas, and of course Massachusetts.

I'm finally done with my training and "earning my ears" which means your a Disney cast member in training. I had my official first week of work with out my trainer. I worked all closing shifts but thought everything went super well. I work at the On the Boardwalk Resort in merchandise which is located near Epcot and Studios and it has six different merchandise shops. I will be working in all six but my favorite shop is Sea Shore Sweets.
